I SAW THIS MOVIE IN TE CAR ON MU FRIENDS IPOD GOING TO MOVIE WORLD AND IT WAS GREAT. IT'S ALL ABOUT LOVE AND RELATIONSHIPS AND DRSSES AND PARTIES AND THAT'S ME!!!!!!! ... COMPLEYTLY!!!!!!!
AND IF THAT'S YOU THEN WATCH THIS WITH YOUR BEST FRIEND ON A SLEEPOVER!!!!!! COOL!
Flawed, but very watchable.I enjoyed this movie enough to give it 4 stars despite the shortcomings I'm going to mention below: the plot is OK, but poorly executed either by the script or by the direction - I can't decide which. There's a corny flashback which sets up the story of Jane discovering her vocation in life - to help other people get married, and so avoid living for herself -which is just not convincing enough. Neither is the diabolical denouement - what, oh what possesses writers to put their characters through an embarrassing and totally gratuitous public declaration of undying affection? I don't know that the story-telling is convincing either - the hero isn't likeable enough, and there isn't enough depth to his character and I'm not convinced that there's a 'happily ever after' for these two characters - so in the end I didn't get the 'feel good buzz'.
Having said that I thought Katherine Heigl was great, her ditsy sister and her boss are just wonderful! If you can suspend belief just a little more than I could you'll probably love this film. For me, despite the flaws there was enough for it to be good movie, just not a great movie!
Not bad at allWell, being a guy I don't normally watch this kind of film (I like Die Hard, the Batman films & the such) but I rented this recently for me & my gf to watch & for a romantic film it wasn't bad at all.
I won't tell you what you probably already know (in regards to the story) so I will just get on with the other things. For a romantic flick, it did feel more grown up than other ones although there were quite some crude words used which felt thrown in for no apparent reason, though it seems the director realised that & stopped it quite quickly for most the film.
The storyline was predictable, although with this category a sad/surprising ending just wouldn't do, but it wasn't completely rosey so that did help near the end. I thought the acting was pretty good too, it was easy to like the right characters, though at the beginning you do want the main female lead to grow some backbone.
All in all though, a likeable film & a pretty decent romantic flick. It was certainly better than P.S I Love You (it probably was a good book, though I am informed it did make some poor changes in it going to the big screen) so I'd give it an 8 out 10.
I Liked:
Likeable characters
Different basis of plot
Was able to watch it with interest & care
I Disliked:
Crude language used near the beginning (the word s**g sounded like it was thrown in for giggles)
Not the most original storyline or ending, but I expect it to be like that so feel free to ignore that one :)
27 dresses!!! WOWa wonderfull movie, a real good sleepover movie! i loved it, its a great classic and a must have comedy romance
Much better than her last filmHeigl is a delight to watch in this film.Entirely credible as a "good egg" sort of girl who helps out at all her friends' weddings, gamely handling lots of annoying things to help out and being the perennial bridesmaid, while harboring a crush for her boss, who only sees her as his assistant and nothing more. She finally runs into a seemingly cynical wedding reporter who makes fun of her and embarrasses her by writing and publishing her story of being a bridesmaid at 27 weddings and keeping all the dresses. But Heigl recovers nicely from this and her conniving sister who steals her boss by using the inside info on him she obtains from Heigl. Is all doomed for the delightful Heigl? Will she always be just the bridesmaid? Well...a strange thing happens and....you will have to get the movie from amazon to find out.
