The 'cute' fat guy spoils what would otherwise have been a very average production. If this is popular entertainment then the British public has a lot to answer for. This is trash...with a capital T.

Comedy Comfort Food
Some reviewers (a small minority, admittedly) seem to have missed the point with Gavin and Stacy. This IS a cracking comedy of the highest order, and it is also a brilliant feel-good show. There isn't a single main character which isn't beautifully observed in both the writing and the acting. The writing is exceptional.

The biggest surprise for me though is finding a modern comedy that doesn't rely on excruciating embarrassment to get it's laughs - something I've got a bit tired of in recent years. It's such a surprise to get characters in a comedy who actually like each other and it's a surprise that the results can be so very funny. That's why this is not just brilliantly funny, but genuinely heart-warming and that might be why so many people love it so much. If you must equate laughs with embrarassment, then this might not be for you, otherwise this the very best of comedy comfort food.

Pure Genius
I was totally hooked from the 1st episode and ending up watching the full 6... New highlight of a Friday night is the 2nd series being re shown.

get rid of the 2 main characters
Only recently watched both series - Alison Steadman is an excellent actress but feel she bas been cast in something that is far beneth her.

I have to admit Ruth Jones as Nessa and Rob Byron as Bryn are both excellent as boring and as simple as Bryn is some of the lines were so funny the one about going on myspace and boosting about 5 friends I thought was quite funny

The main 2 characters Gavin (who has also appeared in Catherine Tate show) is very wooden and Stacey who plays Gavin's g'friend/fiance/wife - must be the woman in men's nightmares - so clingy and the high pitched welsh accent made me just want to cringe

All in all i feel that aside from the main 2 characters the show could be really good

Loved it
Thought I'd get this out of curiosity as I've never seen it before and everyone seems to love it. I was not disappointed, managed to watch the whole series in 1 go ops!!! Now need to get the second series just got to wait for it to be released.
